OK, the Quake tourney has been pushed back to Sunday the 16th, as you can see, in order to promote it. Here's what's up with that.
- We're returning to the basics. That means deathmatch, and a lot of it. For the first time, we will incorporate double ellimination. That means there will be a winners and a losers bracket. 1st and 2nd place prizes will be decided in the final round of the winners bracket, while the winner of the losers bracket will take 3rd place. All rounds will consist of eight players, and will be 20 minutes. We will provide all equiptment, though you are encouraged to bring you own serial mouse and/or AT style keyboard. No other game controlers will be permitted. You are also encouraged to bring your own set of headphones, with an 1/8" phono plug adapter (the small kind). We only have two sets of our own, and they will be lent at the door on a FCFS basis. The entrance fee is $9, which entitles you to a day of deathmatching, a delicious candy or soda of your chosing, good company, plus the chance to win one of our fabulous prizes. Good luck to you all!
- Begins at 12:00 noon. It will likely continue until after dark. As with last time, we will be running the clanring mod. You are free to bring you own .CFG files on 3.5" floppy disks. There will be occaisional breaks, during which we will likely host Rocket Arena games, in which all are welcome to play.
- Don't hesitate! Tell your friends, and Email to sign up if you can, or just show up!

| Entrance fees for both upcoming tournies will be posted soon. Please Email to sign up.
| | Drop by and check out the Quake 2 demo on our 3Dfx enhanced machines.
| | Other new games include Jedi Knight and Red Alert: Aftermath.
| | Saturday, October 4 | | | | |
| The CTF Quake tourney has been canceled. Thanks to all of you, er.. you, who signed up. (You rule Bootsie!) Maybe we'll just stick to deathmatches in the future?
| | Come see the Jedi Knight Demo.
| | Eat well, people. That's just good common sense.

| I haven't heard from ANYONE regarding the upcomming Quake tourney. I assume people are arranging teams, but I would appreciate some feedback. If the date is not a good one, let me know. Also, if the number of signups is too small, we will not be offering food, and will drop the price of entry accordingly.
| | We've recently upgraded more systems, and are now running seven machines with 3Dfx and 32 Megs of RAM. X-Wing vs. Tie with 3Dfx is a completely different experience.
| In other news, Raven software released the Mageslayer demo today (you saw it here before Blues! ). If you liked Gauntlet back in the day, I think you'll be wanting to check this out. It has full multiplayer support. We'll be checking it out at the UN this evening probably.

Ok, peoples. I'm sorry for the delayed info on the Quake tourney. I made a split second decision to go down to Chicago this past weekend, and in my haste I neglected to update the page. As you can see, the next Quake tourney will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5. It will be 4 on 4 Capture the Flag, and the first match will begin at 2:00pm. If possible, you should form a team of four, and one of you should write me an Email with your names and handles. We're trying something new this time: Pizza and drinks will be provided, as well as all hardware. However, you are encouraged to bring your own serial mice and/or AT-style keyboards. No other hardware will be permitted. (Perhaps we will have an open hardware tourney soon.) The entrance fee is $10 dollars per person (dinner, drink, awards, hardware provided). If you can't find a team of four, that's not a problem. Sign up and we'll set you up with a team (maybe I'll be your teammate! ). Good luck, friends!

| Oooops. I had the wrong file linked to the 1 on 1 match in the events section until now. Sorry about that. Anyway, if you haven't checked out those demos, you might do so. There's a cool moment or two. In other news, the next tourney info will be up here within a day or two.

| The Quake tourney was a great success. Thanks to everyone who came out to compete! You provided some great competition. I hope to have the demos from the final 1 on 1 and Deathmatch up in the Events section sometime before Tuesday evening. Congratulations [CV]-Blade on winning the 1 on 1 and DMOS-Stele for winning his third tournament Deathmatch at the Underground. I'll have info up in about a week regarding the next tournament.

Here are the details on the upcoming tournaments. You should Email me if you want to sign up, and include your name, handle/alias, and phone number.
- Warcraft 2: Saturday 16. Entrance fee will be $6 for members, $7 for non-members. The tourney type will depend on the number of contestants. If the number remains small, we will have a round robin style tourney. Every person will play every other person 1 on 1 with a time limit of 1 hour per game. If the number of players grows, we will have 3 on 3 games, with losers and winners brackets. Prizes include award certificates and free week passes for the UN. Contestants should plan on showing up at or before 1:00pm.
- Quake: Saturday 30. There will be two tournaments: 1 on 1, and Deathmatch. The entrance fee will be $6 for members and $7 for non-members, which enters you in one tourney of your choice. You can enter both tourneys for an extra $2. All matches will be played on the ClanRing mod. Players can bring their own .cfg files, as well as keyboards or mice. No other type of hardware will be permitted.
- 1 on 1: Begins at 12:00 noon sharp. It will be single elimination, with both winners and losers brackets. All matches will be played on DM2, or another map agreed upon by all contestants before hand. All matches will be 20 minutes in length. The final round will be best of three matches, on maps of the players' choosing. Awards include award certificates, free weeks passes, and maybe a trophy.
- Deathmatch: Begins at 3:00pm. All contestants will compete in an equal number of preliminary rounds during the afternoon. We will tally total frags, and the top players will move on to the semi-finals in the evening. The top 8 players will then go on to the finals around 9:00pm. Maps will include e1m2, e1m3, e2m1, e2m2, e4m3, e4m7, dm2, dm3, dm6, and Ranger Base. The prizes include award certificates, free weeks passes, and a grand prize trophy.

| Ok, there's a rough draft of all the sections on-line now. Please forgive the time it's taking to finish. I recently had a complete hard drive failure and had to reformat. I'm still experiencing strange hardware problems, which require me to cool down my computer often.
